The Horses of ABS

These are the permanent residents of ABS

Red Ghost - 16hh
1997 Grey Gelding (Double Shadow x Paleface Yankee)

This horse is a lifer with ABS. He's our very own "Mr Reliable" when it comes to ridden work; leave him for weeks and jump on bareback and he'll be as good as gold. The first one at the gate for dinnertime, and the last one to leave in the hopes he'll get another scratch - one thing is for sure, he'll never be leaving our property!

Mush Mush - 17hh

2002 Grey Gelding (Flight Laag x Ticked Off)

Huey came to us a wreck. We spent 8 months getting him sound after a nasty case of seedy toe saw a good 1/3 of his hoof wall removed. He's now sound again and is an excellent riding horse. He's definitely a character, full of his own ideas on how things "should be" - though you have to watch him at feed-time; turn your back for 5 seconds and he's got his head through the door and pinched the bucket you've been making up and is now making a beeline for freedom with it!

Energeegee
2006 Pinto Colt (Energy Level USA x Damiens Girl)

Tonto has done one race-prep so far and was then put out to mature for a year or two. At this stage, we have no plans to geld him and no current plans to stand him at stud. He will be heading back to the track sometime this year for his next prep.
For now though, Tonto is running with the geldings and learning that life at the bottom of the pecking order is all about being smarter than the other horses; this includes  being quicker and more nimble, using trees and bushes as barriers, and when all else fails, run directly to your Human and stand behind her for protection!

Kyalla Blaze
2006 Bay Gelding (Brioso Hanover X Kyalla Forbes)

Reggie is the newest addition to our racing herd!.........

Well, Reggie WAS our newest racing addition .... After showing real promise on the track (and starting to run his last half in under a minute regularly), Reggie unfortunately bowed a tendon .... This was quite shattering to all involved with him, as we were all quite excited for his future.

Though that's the way it goes sometimes, and he's now at home with the rest of the ABS herd, enjoying the lifestyle of a silver-service paddock ornament .... We'll bring him back into work
when he's fully healed and take it from there.... He will NOT race again, he will be a pleasure pony only.

Whatsmynameagain
2003 Bay Mare (Whats Next USA x Crystal Ridge)

Charlie was initially leased as a a racehorse, but failed to make the grade in even a non-TAB race meet .... We have since made an offer for her as a pleasure horse, which her owner has graciously accepted... She has joined our herd as a permanent member and will eventually be put to saddle and shown in Breed class events... We are glad that we can offer her the second career she deserves, as her first one didn't really work out!

Tameika Jade - 15.2hh
1989 Grey Mare (Allwood's Trick USA x Grey Moon)

This beautiful girl arrived on Saturday the 30th of Jan 2010 ...

What a stunning girl she is!! Wonderfully quiet, with lovely refined head and solid build .... One thing is for sure, we're very happy to have her as part of the permanent residents!!

Kyalla Ronnie
2004 Bay Mare (OK Bye USA x Onyx Lady)

Ronnie has retired from the track and was the first broodmare of ABS.

For now, she's enjoying the leisurely life of a pretty paddock ornament, and we are eagerly awaiting her September 2010 foal by the bay Spanish Andalusian, Lantano. It wasn't a planned breeding, however the foal will be retained by ABS and will eventually become a part-bred ridden horse....

She is very well bred and we look forward to putting her to a nice commercial pacing stallion in the near future.

Steel Calais
1989 Grey Mare (Double Shadow x Barton Shot)

This lovely mare has arrived!!!

By the same sire as our gelding Red, she has been served to Day In A Life USA, an American pacing sire who won close to 2million in prizemoney with racing in the States. We are eagerly the arrival of her 2010 foal!

She, like her counterpart below, have thoroughly been enjoying the new paddock and the recent rains - she's a lovely shade of, errrr, beige? (We'll attempt to get a better shot of her soon)...

Shadoll

1990 Grey Mare (Double Shadow x Paula Doll)

Another beautiful grey mare, who arrived at the same time as Steel Calais (6th Feb 10) ..... This mare has also been served to Day In A Life USA, and we are again anticipating a wonderful 2010 foal.

Welcome
